Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world shared its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
