The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The latest action-packed title that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for celebrating violence and mayhem with similar glee, all while telling captivating, politically driven stories. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose creations have exemplified all of those things.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' format by having a fresh location and ensemble in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the producer.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant trust and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the essence of society through this complex and unpredictable perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and introduce our common unconventional, visionary sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
