A man from Australia who vaulted past a barrier and touched Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been deported and prohibited from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was sentenced to more than a week in jail for causing a public disturbance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," the country's border control told local media.

Wen pushed beyond security and approached aggressively the performer and artist, who was attending the regional launch for the film on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

Wen has a history of causing disturbances at events and high-profile gatherings, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in this summer.

The event sparked outrage in Singapore, with several individuals claiming he of re-traumatising Grande.

The singer has mentioned dealing with PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her performance in the UK city in spring of 2017 took the lives of over twenty people and affected hundreds.

In the legal process, the judge was informed he had attempted to intrude on the red carpet event multiple times, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Security staff stopped him and held him in place.

Wen later posted videos appreciating the celebrity for permitting his access and said he was "at liberty."

Law enforcement arrested him the following day and charged him with disorderly conduct, to which he confessed.

The Presiding Judge the judicial official was cited by a news outlet as remarking that the man sought attention, adding that he was wrong to believe he would not face any penalties.

The actress has not addressed the incident.

Cynthia Erivo discussed the incident to a media outlet, remarking that she "only aimed to verify my colleague was safe."

"I'm sure he didn't intend us harm, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I sought to confirm that she was alright. That was my initial reaction," she said.
