Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.
The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
