Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
