In Such Poor Health Walking Was Impossible When a Man Essentially Lifted Me to a Bathroom.

During my 19 years old, my regular journey to work involved an express bus. It remained crowded and invariably became completely full once I boarded.

One particular morning, I started experiencing incredibly sick when the coach swayed around each corner. I continuously reassured myself to persevere another few kilometres before the bus got to my destination, so I could then sprint quickly for the nearest public toilet to be sick.

The bus was approaching the avenue close to the stop when I understood I wasn’t going to last. In an instant, it was like a curtain fell over me. The world became hazy and muffled; similar to when one cut the sound. I said to myself, “I will lose consciousness”.

Luckily I was toward the front inside the vehicle, allowing me to take a few steps to ask the driver and requested that the driver to pull over, informing him that I was about to be sick. He opened the doors and I stumbled out out onto the street.

My intention was not to vomit in front of multiple lanes of cars, so I gathered myself and started trying to stumble across to the park opposite the street, where I thought I’d at least be able to find some privacy behind a bush to vomit. But then I apparently lost consciousness. I sensed my limbs, but I was unable to walk and my vision was blurry, so I started dragging myself toward the park.

“You right, love?”

At that moment, someone picked me up. I felt someone holding me and heard a man say, “You right, love?” I explained to this mysterious stranger that I had to to be sick. Therefore, he almost helped me walk over to an adjacent building and put me into the female bathroom. He inquired if I needed him to wait for me but I declined.

Not long after, I had recovered enough to sit down when from beyond the stall I heard his voice asking, “Are you feeling better, dear? Do you need anything?” I could not to get up just then but I was able to express my gratitude and following a brief period was able to move my feet. I got myself home and spent the next few days healing from what turned out to be a nasty tummy bug.

I never saw his features – merely his legs along with a sizable metal toolbox he held – but he helped me, during a time when I was completely helpless.

Frequently, society tends to make people self-protective, pushy, and rivalrous. His was the sort of gesture that undoes that hardening of the heart. He demonstrated that people’s natural inclination is towards kindness, a quality I adore about my fellow humans.
