The families of teenagers missing after a tragic inferno at a bar in a Swiss alpine town are confronting an excruciating wait for official news and appealing for clues about their children publicly.

The fire devastated the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of the first day of the year. Verified video show the ceiling catching alight as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take an extended period to identify the those who perished of the tragedy, which killed 40 people and injured another scores more. Authorities said on Friday that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with work still underway to name the final individuals.

In the meantime, families and friends have been posting on the internet to request clues about their missing relatives who were at the bar that evening.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing

The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are still unconfirmed, according to an appeal from his parent.

The Italy's foreign ministry has indicated that a number of of its nationals have not been located.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, originally from Italy but now residing in the UAE.

The Italian Golf Federation has stated that he is dead, without mentioning the tragedy, honoring a "talented young man who embodied dedication and authentic values."

His father, told media that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An official spokesperson has clarified that a official announcement of his death is awaited.

Additional Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His parent explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with a group and found himself at the venue.

"A companion told me they ran away after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he couldn't see him anymore," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his teachers said, "I've always been struck by his kindness and positive demeanor, coupled with great maturity. He would frequently ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives permanently in the country, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to media.

Her brother has posted an urgent request online, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the 15-year-old or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Consular authorities from her other nation say they are continuing to monitor the developments.
