Disputed American-supported GHF Aid Organization Concludes Relief Activities
The controversial, American and Israeli-supported Gaza relief foundation says it is terminating its humanitarian work in the Gaza region, following nearly half a year.
The organisation had earlier paused its three food distribution sites in Gaza following the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect six weeks ago.
The GHF aimed to circumvent United Nations channels as the primary provider of humanitarian assistance to Gazans.
UN and other aid agencies declined to participate with its system, saying it was improper and dangerous.
Hundreds of Palestinians were fatally wounded while attempting to obtain sustenance amid chaotic scenes near the organization's distribution points, mostly by Israeli fire, according to the UN.
The Israeli military claimed its soldiers fired alerting fire.
Mission Completion
The foundation announced on recently that it was terminating work now because of the "satisfactory fulfillment of its emergency mission", with a cumulative three million shipments containing the corresponding to over 187 million food portions distributed to Gazans.
The organization's top administrator, the executive director, further mentioned the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Centre (CMCC) - which has been established to help implement US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan - would be "adopting and expanding the model GHF piloted".
"The organization's system, in which Palestinian factions were unable to divert and benefit from humanitarian assistance, was significantly influential in bringing Palestinian factions to negotiations and securing a halt in hostilities."

An official from stated GHF should be made responsible for the damage it inflicted to Palestinians.

Organization Timeline
The organization commenced activities in Gaza on 26 May, a week after Israeli authorities had somewhat relaxed a complete restriction on humanitarian and trade shipments to Gaza that persisted for nearly three months and resulted in critical deficits of necessary provisions.
Subsequently, a nutritional emergency was proclaimed in Gaza City.
The organization's sustenance provision locations in southern and central Gaza were operated by American private security firms and located inside regions under Israeli military authority.

The organization's continuation had been unclear since militant groups and the Israeli government approved a halt in hostilities arrangement to implement the primary segment of the United States' reconciliation proposal.
It said humanitarian assistance would take place "without interference from the two parties through the international bodies and their affiliates, and the humanitarian medical organization, in addition to other worldwide bodies not associated in any manner" with Palestinian factions and Israeli authorities.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric stated recently that the GHF's shutdown would have "no influence" on its activities "as we never partnered with them".
The spokesperson additionally stated that while more aid was getting into Gaza since the halt in hostilities began on 10 October, it was "not enough to meet all the needs" of the 2.1 million population.
