Barça Ready for Historic Fixture at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend

Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome the Bilbao team in the Spanish league two and a half years after they moved out for construction to commence.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans can be present as per the current authorization. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.

Preparatory Events

Barcelona held a public practice at the Camp Nou on 7 November. The club said they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
